James Pristas, President and CEO
Jim is the founder and President of Matrx Broadband Technologies and has worked within the aerospace industry for over 20 years. He has held design and program leadership roles for most of his career at companies like General Electric, Westinghouse, Loral and Hamilton Sundstrand. Jim has experience in aviation electronic control system design and manufacturing, functional engineering management, business unit management, marketing, program management and strategic business development. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Masters in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University.
Dr. Bin Huang, Principal Engineer Bin's 10 years of experience has been focused on wireless communications and digital signal processing. Specifically, Bin has been responsible for OFDM-based wireless LAN (802.11a/g),wireless MAN (802.16a) physical layer design and product development. He also investigated and developed algorithms for OFDM systems with multiple transmit antennas (MIMO) and worked on embedded systems such as 802.11a wireless LAN physical layer system-on-a-chip (SoC) and VOIP voice codecs (ITU-G.729a,.G.729ab,.G.723.1 etc.) based on a multiprocessor DSP. Bin holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a Concentration on Blind Equalization and Communications System Identification from Auburn University. He received his MSEE degree and BSEE degrees from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Shenyang Polytechnic University of China, respectively.
Kevin Harnist, Vice President, Engineering
Prior to Matrx, Kevin worked for PalmOne as an RF engineer where he was responsible for the development of antenna and radio designs using Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11, and CDMA technology for use in the Palm Tungsten T series (T, T2, and T3) handheld devices. Before PalmOne, Kevin worked at Motorola developing GSM macro-cellular basestations and was involved in both receiver and power amplifier design. He also spearheaded the development of Bluetooth products for Motorola's two-way radio products. Kevin received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and his MSEE from NTU.
Barry Atkinson, Director of Software Development
Barry has been involved with hardware and software design for over twenty years. Prior to Matrx, Barry worked on a variety of networking and consumer projects, most recently the TerraPlayer wireless entertainment system for Chrysalis Development. Prior to Chrysalis, Barry brought together and managed the Chicago development team for Accton Technology Corporation where his team designed and implemented a suite of VPN gateway and broadband router products. At 3Com, Barry managed software development and was systems architect for 3Com’s highly touted Internet Appliance Division. Previously Barry has managed software development teams at Johnson & Johnson, Airtouch Corporation and Pacific Telesis. Barry majored in Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Science in Computer Information Systems at Northwestern University. Barry holds a patent for a remotely distributed wireless messaging system and is the author of numerous magazine articles on wireless technology, communications and the Internet.
